FAIR CHASE HUNTING
HUNT ON LOW-FENCED RANCHES
At Lalapa Safaris, we believe real hunting is about respect, challenge, and connection with the land. Most of our hunts take place on expansive, low-fenced properties where game moves naturally across open country and thick bushveld.
Why this matters:
- True fair-chase hunting — no staged encounters
- Wild, free-roaming game that lives by its instincts
- Varied terrain that tests your skill and patience
- An honest, rewarding experience you’ll remember for life
PLAINS GAME
DIVERSE SPECIES
The Eastern Cape's moderate climate and varied terrain create ideal conditions for numerous plains game species. Hunt kudu, impala, bushbuck, blue wildebeest, black wildebeest, springbok, blesbok, gemsbok, eland, warthog, and many others.
Each species presents different challenges and requires different approaches. Our professional hunters know the behaviour patterns and movement routes.
CAPE BUFFALO
AFRICA'S MOST DANGEROUS GAME
Thanks to years of trusted relationships across the hunting industry, Lalapa Safaris offers access to three of the best Cape Buffalo hunting concessions in the Eastern Cape — including one spanning more than 47,000 acres. All buffalo are from naturally breeding herds with no size restrictions.
We understand that Cape Buffalo hunts are a high-value pursuit, so we carefully match each hunter with an area that fits their budget, experience, and desired level of challenge — without ever compromising on hunt quality or ethics.
Each hunt is scouted and selected to ensure a true fair-chase experience, the way dangerous game hunting is meant to be.
If you’re ready to take on Africa’s most iconic challenge, Lalapa Safaris will make sure your buffalo hunt is authentic, ethical, and unforgettable.
TINY TEN
AFRICA'S MOST TECHNICAL CHALLENGE
With years of experience and strong industry connections, Lalapa Safaris offers eight of Africa’s ten recognized Tiny Ten species.
Six of these — Blue Duiker, Grey (Common) Duiker, Cape Grysbok, Klipspringer, Oribi, and Steenbok — are hunted in the Eastern Cape. We also hold a special concession in the sand forests of northern KwaZulu-Natal for Red Forest Duiker and Suni.
This challenging, highly specialized hunt takes you through a range of habitats, each requiring its own approach and technique. It’s a pursuit that quickly becomes addictive to dedicated hunters.
Our success rate on these “little guys” is excellent, and we guarantee every hunter an opportunity at each species. Our professional hunters know their areas intimately and have proven methods to secure quality trophies.
Many hunters add Cape Bushbuck, Vaal Rhebok, Bushpig, or Caracal (Lynx) to round out their Tiny Ten safari — all endemic to our region and rewarding to hunt.
HIGH ALTITUDE MOUNTAIN HUNTING
BARBARY SHEEP • VAAL RHEBOK • MOUNTAIN REEDBUCK
Hunting at altitude with Lalapa Safaris is a true test of skill, endurance, and precision. Our mountain hunts take place high in the rugged peaks of the Eastern Cape, where thin air, steep terrain, and sharp eyes define success.
These elevated regions are home to Barbary Sheep (Aoudad), Vaal Rhebok, and Mountain Reedbuck — species that thrive in some of South Africa’s most breathtaking and demanding country.
Who would have thought it possible to hunt free-range Aoudad in Africa — and at elevations over 6,000 feet? These wild, free-ranging sheep, often found in herds of hundreds, roam vast, moonlike mountain tops that fall away into deep green valleys below. It’s a rare and thrilling hunt — one that few African hunters have ever experienced.
A flat-shooting .30 caliber rifle is ideal, as long shots across valleys and steep canyons are common. Every opportunity must be earned through patience, endurance, and precise shooting.
The same holds true for Vaal Rhebok and Mountain Reedbuck, which inhabit these windswept ridges and open slopes. Their sharp eyesight, nervous temperament, and exposed terrain make for one of the most rewarding fair-chase hunts in Africa.
Truly free-range Aoudad hunting at this altitude is almost impossible to find elsewhere in South Africa, making this experience uniquely Lalapa. Combined with our expert Professional Hunters who know every ridge and valley, this is authentic mountain hunting — wild, challenging, and deeply rewarding.
If you’re looking for a hunt that tests both body and spirit, Lalapa Safaris’ high-altitude adventures offer an experience that few will ever match.
SPIRAL-HORNED ANTELOPE HUNTS
KUDU • CAPE ELAND • NYALA • BUSHBUCK
The spiral-horned antelope are the pride of Lalapa Safaris — iconic species that define true African hunting. Our areas hold naturally occurring herds that roam vast, low-fenced terrain with ideal vegetation, producing consistently high-quality trophies.
Hunts take place in varied terrain, from open valley bushveld to dense riverine thickets where these elusive animals thrive. Each offers a unique challenge — from stalking a grey ghost Kudu, to tracking a powerful Cape Eland, to watching a wary Bushbuck come out from the shadows.
The Cape Eland, in particular, stands as a personal favorite — powerful yet graceful, and one of Africa’s most rewarding plains game hunts.
Every spiral-horned hunt with Lalapa Safaris promises authenticity, challenge, and lasting memories.
LONG-RANGE HUNTING
The Eastern Cape offers the perfect terrain and vegetation for true long-range hunting. From mountain ridges and hilltops, hunters glass into vast valleys and open bottoms where game moves freely and in abundance. It’s a landscape designed by nature for precision shooting — where patience, positioning, and skill come together.
Game is visible across the slopes and plains — from majestic Kudu and Eland to the open plains for Wildebeest or the agile Vaal Rhebok high on the ridges. Each encounter is a test of distance, discipline, and understanding of the elements.
Our experienced PHs bring decades of knowledge in reading wind, judging distance, and understanding long-range ballistics. With their expertise in equipment setup and real-time wind calls, hunters are guided to make confident, ethical shots at extended ranges.
FAMILY HUNTS
SHARE THE EXPERIENCE
We’re a family operation, and we encourage hunters to bring their families along. Over the years, we’ve guided memorable hunts for women and young hunters, sharing our passion for this incredible region and creating experiences that last a lifetime.
Whether it’s a first-time hunter taking their first African animal or experienced hunters sharing their passion with the next generation, we welcome families and understand the importance of these shared adventures.
